I need: linked clones, fenced networks, and the ability to segregate folks into Organizations. we've spent enough money on it all that it has to stay in support and when that ends we have to move to whatever is supported.Ĭan someone tell me where vmware is going with all this? for the most part wer'e happy, it works and it does what we need it to do. Right now we have two vcloud environments, one sitting on version 5.1 (getting upgraded when i can find the time, this year) and a second environment on version 5.5. Except for a basic vsphere 4 course i took a few years back i have taught myself all this stuff (i am a long time sys admin). We are forced to buy vmware products through a 3rd party (SHI) so i do not have a vmware sales or technical rep. Ive also read that vShield is going out of support next year? which then lead me to discover "NSX", but i have no idea if thats going to help me out or not. I havent had a chance to even look at vCac to see if thats going to do what we need it to do, and i am now reading its changed names and features? Not that long after, Labmanager support got extended another year (of course) and not that much longer after that i read that vCD was eventually no longer being supported for Enterprises and we'd need to move to vCac.

I moved us to vCD, migrated all the needed Labmanager vm's and we settled in for awhile with vCD. It worked, it made everyone happy, it did pretty much exactly what we needed it to do.Īt one point i read Labmanager was going out of support and we needed to move to vCloud Director (the big wigs did not want to continue using it without vmware support being available.
#Vmware labmanager software
Back in the day we started with Labmanager at my software dev office. I am confused as to which direction I am supposed to moving in.
